“From My Heart” - guidelines for writers

“I cry out with my whole heart. Hear me, O LORD.”
(Psalm 45:1 NKJV)

Dear brother or sister in Christ!

We welcome your writing about something important in your deep thoughts, longings, concerns, or hopes that moves your heart in some very special way and focuses your eyes on God.

You can share your heart with other Christians in a special format of articles called “From My Heart,” a special feature of Gloriscope Christian Global News.

May your writing from your heart be a blessing to many people all around the world, to God’s glory! God works in many ways and your deep thoughts, feelings and longings may touch the heart of people you could not even dream of. God honors a honest testimony from the believer’s heart that glorifies Him.

GUIDELINES

ORIGINAL, UNPUBLISHED WRITING
Your writing must be unpublished and original, that is, you must be the only author of the text. If it was published before in a church bulletin or anywhere on the Web, it counts as published. Nevertheless, you can make a new, unpublished version of the same testimony if you rewrite your text in some significant ways.

SUBJECT MATTER
You are free to write about anything that moves your heart these days in a deep, special way. It can be something about your faith, or about your church, your city, your country or about Christians in the world. It can be about your deep concern for social problems, for young people, for God’s truth, for withstanding worldly temptations in the church and in personal life. It can be about your deepest longing for knowing Christ more or for seeing the kingdom of God. In short, it can be about anything that is deep and non-trivial that is a special burden on your heart.

FORM AND STYLE
Your article should be written in a very personal way, in the first person, just as if you were telling your deep things to a close friend or to God.  You should make your writing well focused and carefully written. If you wish, you may use intimate and figurative language – think of King David talking to God in his psalms – but keep your focus on one or two important things in your heart so as to make a clear spiritual message to the reader.

BIBLE QUOTATIONS
Your writing must include at least one Bible quotation or reference to a specific Bible passage, either because the quotation is part of your focus on God, or because it highlights your deep concerns or strengthens your hope or faith. You can also quote one of your favorite verses. In short, you should integrate at least one Bible quotation or Bible reference into your text.

LENGTH
Between 300 and 1,000 words.

LANGUAGE
Your testimony should be in English. We may edit any testimony for grammar, punctuation, style, length, and legal concerns. If English is not your native language, we will edit your text to correct grammar and spelling.. If you are not writing American or British English, it’s OK to write in another regional version of English (Indian, South African, etc.) – it may add to the authenticity of your writing.

INFORMATION ABOUT YOURSELF:
We need to publish your real full name and country of residence, as a minimum. We do make an exception for missionaries and other Christians living in or witnessing about countries where Christians are persecuted – in those cases, we may publish anonymous testimonies or use changed names of persons or locations, or both.

Normally, however, we will publish your full name and country of residence. You have an option to include the name of your city and State or province, your age, and your occupation (e.g. university student, teacher, pastor, “mother of three children.”) You may also add a few words about your spiritual and worldly interests. If you wish to add the name and/or website address of the church, ministry or missionary organization that you attend or are involved in, you’re welcome to do so and we’ll be glad to publish it along with your article.

PHOTOS
We welcome one or two small photos about yourself. The photos should be e-mailed to us NOT in an attachment, but by inserting them into the body of your e-mail message, after the text. Preferably, one picture should be of you alone, another one may include your friends or family. We may contact you in case there are some privacy problems.

HOW TO SEND IT
Please e-mail your article to: editor(at)gloriscope.com. Please write “My heart’s cry to God” in the subject line. Include your photos into the body of your e-mail, not in an attachment.

YOUR CONTACT INFO
If we publish your testimony, we will not publish your e-mail address. If we need to talk with you about some things regarding your text or photos, we may e-mail you to send us your phone number by e-mail, so that we can call you.

PRIVACY AND LEGAL CONCERNS
If your writing mentions other people, please protect their privacy – when in doubt, choose not to include other people’s sensitive information in your article. We will check your text for privacy and legal concerns (to avoid libel, for example) and may need to contact you by e-mail or phone to resolve any issues. If you or we want to change or withhold names and/or locations in order to protect other people’s privacy, you and/or we will have to tell our readers that names and locations have been changed or withheld in the text for privacy reasons. Please tell us in your e-mail if some names have been changed, and, if so, which ones. If we need to change names in your testimony, we will never do so without asking you by e-mail for a permission to do.

EDITORIAL CHANGES
No “From My Heart” article will be published without the author’s prior approval of the exact text to be published. If we need to make any editorial changes in your text, we’ll ask for your approval by e-mail. If we decide to publish your article in the unchanged form, we’ll let you know, too.

COPYRIGHT
You, the author, own the full copyright to your original text and any of your original photos you may send us. If you send us your text and photos, your copyright will NOT get transferred to us. You remain the owner of the copyright. What happens, when you send us your original text and photos, is that you automatically grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide license for electronic rights (not printing rights) to use your submitted text and photos in Gloriscope and any other existing or future publications of 4T4C News Corp. (our company which publishes Gloriscope). You can find further details about copyright in our Terms of Service for Gloriscope.com.

PUBLICATION FEES
At present, we do not pay authors any fees for publication of their faith testimonies.

THE USUAL DISCLAIMERS
We do not guarantee that any text and/or photos received will be published. We disclaim all responsibility and liability regarding your submitted text and photos. (For full details, please see our Terms of Service.)

WE THANK YOU for your willingness to share your heart’s deep thoughts and feelings with other Christians and we thank you for your time in reading these guidelines. May your testimony be to the glory of God and an inspiration and blessing to many people!
